The Lactation Access Fund

Removing financial barriers. Sustaining compassionate care.

The Lactation Access Fund exists to ensure that cost is not the reason a Black family goes without lactation support.

Through community investment and strategic partnerships, the fund provides no-cost or subsidized lactation care for eligible families while ensuring providers receive fair compensation for the care they deliver. By investing in both families and the workforce, the fund creates a sustainable model that expands equitable access to care.

Why the Fund Exists

Access to lactation care should never depend solely on a family’s ability to pay.

Yet for many Black families the cost, gaps in insurance coverage, transportation challenges, and other systemic barriers make it difficult to access the support they deserve. At the same time, lactation professionals should not have to choose between serving their communities and sustaining their own livelihoods.

The Lactation Access Fund was created to address both realities.

Rather than asking providers to absorb the cost of uncompensated care or asking families to forgo the support they need, the fund bridges the gap by investing in both.

Because equitable access should never come at the expense of sustainable care.
