LATCH = Learn

The Obsidian Milk Collective

Restoring the place of lactation within Black families, communities, and systems of care.

Who We Are

The Obsidian Milk Collective (OMC) is a Black-led nonprofit organization advancing lactation justice through our LATCH™ philosophy and LATCH to Systems™ framework. We serve Black families by expanding access to culturally responsive lactation care, restoring representation, and advancing systems that recognize lactation as an essential component of maternal and infant health. Our work is rooted in the belief that every family deserves the opportunity to learn, access compassionate, culturally responsive care, thrive throughout their reproductive and feeding journey, connect with supportive communities and systems of care, and have their reproductive choices and feeding goals honored.

Why We Exist

The Obsidian Milk Collective exists because lactation has too often been overlooked as an essential part of reproductive healthcare. We envision a future where Black families no longer have to search for culturally responsive lactation support because it is woven into the systems, communities, and care they already trust. OMC exists to help make that future possible.

Looking Ahead

The Obsidian Milk Collective is building more than programs. We're building a future where lactation is visible, valued, and integrated into every stage of reproductive care. Through education, community partnership, and systems change, we're creating pathways that strengthen not only Black families today, but also shaping healthier communities for all families generations to come.
